Napa County: Home to Many Ukrainians who Fled Ukraine
Since Russia’s full scale invasion, a number of valley residents have sponsored Ukrainian adults and families to come live in county, via a program called Uniting for Ukraine (U4U.) The Starr family, Co-Founders of Napa Valley to Ukraine (NVTU) has sponsored six people and hopes to receive a 7th refugee from Dnipro, Ukraine in 2024. “In 2023 our group shifted to a focus on convening and supporting Ukrainian newcomers fleeing the war to help reduce isolation that many feel on first arriving in the U.S. so far from home and loved ones. Kate. T. who herself arrived in August, 2023, with three family members, from Mariupol, Ukraine, is now the Community Manager and Co-Founder of Ukrainians in Napa Valley which connects 40 adults and children to each other for mutual support and “a home away from home.

More than 40 Ukrainians have fled the war have the Napa Valley their home. These working families – largely women with children cannot afford to save up for a car. Twelve such families are now connected to Napa Valley to Ukraine (NVTU) and helping to support each other and three of these families need cars as soon as possible.
