Dr. Glaser is returning to her hometown of Yountville to share a thoughtfully crafted program celebrating Ukrainian poets during National Poetry Month.

“We’ve packed a contraband humanitarian aid kit of war songs, and shipped it to Europe America India and China, paving the silk road with great Ukrainian literature.” The Ukrainian poet Iya Kiva wrote these lines in 2022. It was a month into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the poem expressed something many readers around the world had begun to feel while anxiously following the news. Ukraine, in its improbable struggle to defend its democracy, had been giving something essential to the rest of the world.”

This is the story of contemporary Ukrainian poets who have pushed language to its creative limit as a way of imagining a nation at a moment of transformation, loss, and resistance. It is a story about why poetry matters in an increasingly complex world.  Read more…

N.V.T.U.  Continues to Fundraise for Tourniquets

We have supported Hands on Global  (HOG’s) STOP THE BLEED tourniquet campaign since 2024.  Click here to donate.

SICH Tourniquets:

3000 Torurniquets Garden Party and Fundraiser. Sich Tourniquet

The tourniquets we are funding are made by SICH.UA in Ukraine and dispersed to medics, troops, emergency workers and hospitals throughout their country.  Tourniquets are priceless to those who receive aid and to all who carry them.

In 2024, over $50,000 was raised through the efforts of many across the country to provide over 4,000 tourniquets.  I  will find out the current total raised for tourniquets by HOG with your help! – Debbie
